Kaylee's big day

Yesterday was a busy day for us. Kaylee had her school program. It was called "Disney Spectacular." and it was really good. They sang 21 disney songs, or at least bits from 21 disney songs. anything from Davy Crockett to Candle on the Water to the chiminey song from Mary Poppins. It was really cute. They had soloists and dancing and different characters acting out what they were singing. Kaylee was the bear in Davy Crockett's song. (killed him a "bar" when he was only 3). I really wish I could have videod it, it was so cute.

Last night, she had her piano recital and like the slacker mom I am, I forgot to even take the camera to this one. Kaylee played 2 songs by memory. They were "I am a child of God" and "Bean Bag Dog". She did a great job. We are so proud of her.

Happy Preschool Graduation!

Bo graduated from Shining Stars Preschool today. We had a picnic at Porter Park and Mrs Duffin had rented the carousel for about 1/2 hour so the kids and families could ride on it. She also made up a graduation certificate and a packet with the preschoolers cookbook and a notebook and scissors and pencils and crayons for the kids.

Good job Bo!

The Bachelor - hillbilly style

I was surfing through tv channels the other night and came across this hilarious show, Farmer wants a wife. It is literally The Bachelor, hillbilly style. This farmer is looking to get married, so they bring in 10 city girls and introduce them to farmer and farm life. I didn't get to see the whole thing, but what i saw was hilarious. He literally puts them to work on the farm, or a neighbors farm all day long, then at the end of the day sends them to the guest farm house to clean up and they either go on a group date or he selects one individually to go on a date.

They went on a hayride on one group date and on another, they went to the local VFW for a night of bingo and meeting the townfolk.
On the individual dates, they had a picnic out in the yard or went and watched a movie outside on the side of a buddy's barn. He always had handpicked bouquets for the individual dates, which i thought was very cute. They hauled everyone around in beat up old farm trucks on all these group and individual dates.
I think that it cracked me up the most because I grew up in farm country. My dad didn't farm, but I had plenty of relatives that did and my husband grew up farming. These women all claim that they could be a farmer's wife. Man, they have no idea what they are in for. I wonder if it will occur to any of these women that even when they are working on the farm during the day on the show, this is just the tip of the iceburg of what a real farmer's wife's life would be like. The stilettos, mini skirts and tube tops just won't work in the pig pen. Sorry ladies.
At any rate, it was a kick in the pants to watch.

New planter bed

We have been in our house for 6 1/2 years now. Ever since about the 2nd summer, we have wanted to put a planter bed along the west side of our house. We've just never gotten around to doing it. Over the last 2 summers, the ground on that side of the house has settled really bad, so finally on Saturday, we did it. We hauled a ton of new dirt in and filled in the low area along the house and made our planter bed. It turned out really nice. My husband is such a sweetie for finally getting it done for me, even when it was 87 degrees out. We've still got some work to do, but it looks so much better.

It's official.....or is it???

I think Spring is here....finally! We have had some beautiful days over the last week. It went from being in the 40's for the highs right up to mid 80's. That is a little hard to adjust to in a days time. The hot weather was apparently taking its toll on 2 of my kids. Both Bo and Raegan felt the need to refresh themselves with a good splash of water in the face. Not once, not twice, not even three time, but many, many times. I guess I should have tried it. I wish I had video of it. It would have been much funnier, but my memory card is nearly full so it won't let me take video until I clean it off.

Just roll-n-grow

I was getting my 4 year old, Bo, ready for preschool this morning and told him that on Saturday we might go buy some flowers to plant in the next couple of weeks. He told me I should just roll and grow. I didn't know what he was talking about at first so I asked him to tell me what it was. He told me you just roll it out, water it and flowers grow. He said that would be a really smart thing to do and we would have lots of pretty flowers.
He said he learned about it on TV. He thought it was a great idea. It just made me laugh a little to know that he remembers seeing that and knew how it worked and that it would be a great way to grow flowers. What a smarty pants!

After our conversation about roll and grow this morning and was writing this blog, i did a search with the "roll and grow" words, and sure enough, up came a "roll n grow" website. After looking at the site, I remember seeing the commercial for it as well. So if any of you have the need to plant flowers, just remember to roll-n-grow.

Gotcha!

My daughter is fascinated by the drawers and cupboard in my bathroom. If ever she goes missing, I usually can find her there happily pulling everything out. I snuck in and caught her in the act. This is her surprised look. I'm sure she will someday see my surprised look when she comes out with a tampon or something equally embarrassing to show guests.

She's so dang cute though I just had to give her loves and we took a little picture together. She does love the camera.

Grass stains

This is what happens when my 1 year old nose dives into the grass. She has a very beautiful grass stain on her forehead... So I just stain treated it and threw her in the wash with the rest of the laundry.

You've got to be kidding

This scene is what I woke up to today, May 1, 2008. I'm getting tired of mother natures "sense of humor." I am soooo ready for spring to be here. I was wearing capris 2 days ago and now we have 2 inches of snow again. GGRRRRR!
